In Lower Saxony there are 23 recognized "Heimvolkshochschulen" (Home Folk High Schools), short HVHS. Not all bear the traditional designation "VHS" in their name. Some call themselves educational center, other educational institution, seminar house or academy. Learning free from the obligations and the routine of everyday life - that is the common idea. The students are welcomed as overnight guests and have the opportunity to exchange ideas outside the courses. This allows a special concentration and intensity. This intensity of educational work distinguishes home folk high schools. (Type: Association / Level: Regional Level / Language: German)
